Pouliot not part of the plans?

By:  Sudhir Daruwala   |   Thursday, June 23, 2011 - 12:28

With the draft approaching and the free agent frenzy set to begin soon, there are still a few question marks left in Montreal's camp with regards to the RFAs and the UFAs.  Benoit Pouliot is one of those question marks.  The 24 year old winger is currently an RFA and from all indications, there has been no offers made to him and no negotiations have taken place.  It seems likely that Benny is not part of Montreal's plans for the 2011-2012 season.

Hamrlik gets an offer?

By:  Sudhir Daruwala   |   Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 12:56

It is all but confirmed, at least in the media, that Roman Hamrlik will not return with the Habs.  With Jaroslav Spaeck, Hal Gill, Alexei Yemelin, PK Subban confirmed and with Yannick Weber (a 2 year term) and Andrei Markov (another 2 year term) rumored to sign very soon, it seems improbable that Montreal will tend an offer to the aging Hamrlik.  There is also the Josh Gorges file, who may come to an agreement with the Habs soon enough for a 3-4 year long term worth $2.5 to $2.75 Million per year.   Again, that does not leave any room for Roman Hamrlik but it seems that

The season is over for most of the Habs, but some will continue to play hockey for a little while longer.  One of them is Ryan White.  The latter has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs after the Habs were eliminated in a seven game series against the Boston Bruins.  White didn't make it to Hamilton in time to join the Bulldogs in the opening match against the Manitoba Moose for the second round of the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs but will be present on Sunday when the 'Dogs will play the second game in the best of seven series.

Pouliot out?

By:  Sudhir Daruwala   |   Thursday, April 21, 2011 - 13:07

No confirmation yet on whether Benoit Pouliot will be in the lineup tonight or not but if practice lineups are anything to base these assumptions on, Pouliot will be watching the game from the press-box.  Yesterday at the Habs practice facility in Brossard, Jeff Halpern was seen in the company of Lars Eller and Travis Moen while David Desharnais was skating with Tom Pyatt and Ryan White.  The combinations left Pouliot feeling like the odd man, but Coach Jacques Martin did not confirm his inclusion or exclusion from the lineup.

Chara returns to the lineup

By:  Sudhir Daruwala   |   Monday, April 18, 2011 - 12:49

It should be all but confirmed, all though the lineup changes are usually left to a game-time decision when it comes to playoff games, that the imposing Captain of the Boston Bruins, Zdeno Chara, will make a return to the lineup tonight after missing game 2 of the first round playoffs matchup between Montreal and Boston.  Chara's absence from the lineup was dearly felt by Boston.  His time on the ice, irreplaceable by any Boston defender, and the turn-overs simply accumulated, directly resulting in two of the goals scored by the Montreal Canadiens.

Tomas Plekanec, Jeff Halpern, Brent Sopel and Mathieu Darche gave some good news to the Habs fans today and skated with the team at the morning practice.  Although their return for tonights game is not certain, it's most certainly a good sign that all four regulars were on the ice.  Both Plekanec and Halpern have missed the last three games after leaving the ice in the second period against the Washington Capitals last Tuesday.  While the team has not given any word on their injury status, they are expected to return to the lineup against the Capitals this coming Saturday

Lapierre traded, Desharnais recalled, Habs making the moves
