October Molson cup awarded to Carey Price

The Montreal Canadiens Organization announced yesterday that Goaltender Carey Price was selected as the Molson Cup winner for the month of October.   Price earned this honor after receiving 3520 fan votes in the Molson cup standings in October and finished ahead of teammates Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn. He was selected once as the first star, thrice as the second star and twice as the third star of the game.

Plekanec a game time decision

Montreal might have to face the struggling Buffalo Sabres without their best player tonight.  Tomas Plekanec, the leading scorer of the team, was told to stay in the team's hotel room after showing flu like symptoms.  While many of his team mates, including line mate Michael Cammalleri believe he will be in the lineup, he still remains a game time decision.

Buffalo is also having their own injury woes and will be missing Ryan Miller for tonight's game, out with a muscle strain.

Pacioretty would rather stay in AHL

In an extremely candid interview with Tony Marinaro, @tonymarinaro, of the Team 990 in Montreal, Max Pacioretty was very clear about his desires to be in the AHL if there is no role for him on the top 2 lines.  Pacioretty talked about his confidence and how he is off to a good start.  In fact, in ten games with the Bulldogs this season, he has scored three goals and assisted on 9 others for a total of 12 points.  He has taken a total of 48 shots towards the opposition's net. Notably, two of his three goals came during a man-advantage situation.

The Hamilton Bulldogs returned to the Copps Coliseum to play the second part of the back-to-back home series against the Manitoba Moose.  The 'Dogs decided to go with the struggling Mayer in the nets.  Mayer's last outing was a disaster when he allowed 4 goals on 12 shots against the Syracuse Crunch.  It didn't take long for the Moose to open the scoring when tough guy Tommy Maxwell took a shot that trickled past Robert Mayer.  After 1 minute and 50 seconds, the Moose led the game by a score of 1-0.

Aaron Palushaj scored his first of the season and Curtis Sanford made his season debut tonight as the Hamilton Bulldogs bested the Manitoba Moose by a score of 3-1.  Pacioretty opened the scoring with his second of the season at the 17:43 mark when he received a centring pass from Aaron Palushaj on a powerplay.  Sanford stopped all 7 shots he faced during the period to keep the Bulldogs in the lead.

Spacek confirmed, Boyd in against CBJ

Despite previous reports about the potential lineup changes for tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Jaroslav Spacek will not be watching the match from the press-box.  At the practice session yesterday, Alexandre Picard had been paired with Andrei Markov while Spacek played alongside Ryan O'Byrne.  This led to speculations that Spacek, a veteran defenceman who is going through a tough season debut, would be a healthy scratch against the CBJ to make room for Picard, who has been fairly impressive and consistent.   Today, this was confirmed to not be

Alex Auld to start

All reports indicate that Montreal's backup goaltender, Alex Auld, will finally see some action this season against the New York Islanders tonight when both teams will meet for the second part of a back-to-back game series.  Montreal, led by Carey Price, won the first encounter between the two teams on Wednesday by a score of 5-3.  Auld, 29, will be playing his 8th "First game" with a new team during his NHL career and has won six of those games.  He is 1-3-1 in 5 lifetime games against the New York Islanders.  Auld has been quoted as being "excited&qu
